about

astralibra is an arts & entertainment business run by Cléo Schurrer, an Event Producer, Program Manager, Visual Artist, Graphic Designer, Writer and DJ based in Boorloo/Perth.

Currently, the main focus of astralibra is the national (and global) growth of Cléo’s regular event Sapphic Disco, which creates a space for LBTQIA+ people who identify as sapphic to connect, dance, and enjoy incredible live acts in a safe and dedicated environment.

Cléo began her career in the arts working with Perth Symphony Orchestra from its inception in 2011, and went on to become the Program Director of The Ellington Jazz Club for eight years, simultaneously launching The Royale Theatre at Planet Royale in 2021. In 2023 she took on the Live Performance Program at 1500-capacity multi-storey venue The Rechabite, managing four festival programs per year (FRINGE WORLD Festival, Perth Comedy Festival, Perth International Jazz Festival and PrideFEST) including bespoke immersive pop-up bar experiences such as Midnight Martini Lounge (Perth International Jazz Festival) and D*ke Bar (PrideFEST), as well as the venue's year-round Live Performance Program.

As a producer, she has produced multiple series of free-to-the-public pop up jazz concerts at Yagan Square Amphitheatre with grant support from CITS (formerly DLGSC) and DevelopmentWA, as well as many in-house events at The Rechabite. In 2023, she launched Sapphic Disco in Boorloo (Perth) and the event has since gone from strength to strength, in 2026 upgrading to a venue with twice the capacity due to consistent sell outs and high demand, and embarking on a national summer tour to Midsumma Festival in Melbourne, Mardi Gras in Sydney, and Adelaide Fringe Festival.

As a performer, she has performed in and produced multiple sell out iterations of 'Cléo's Big Gay Cabaret' beginning in 2020, as well as the sell out show 'Emotion' in 2022, celebrating the most poignant and heartfelt works of a diverse collective of performers. As a visual artist, her works have been featured by publications such as Condé Nast’s them and Sundial Media Group’s Refinery29. She has also exhibited collections of her works four times, in 2016, 2019, 2022 and 2025.

In 2025 she was proud to put forward 'Heart House', her program for FRINGE WORLD Festival at The Rechabite, comprising 25 seasons across 144 shows, with flagship show History of House performed by the four time Grammy award-winning Soweto Gospel Choir alongside the ARIA-nominated DJ Groove Terminator. She was also overjoyed to create a deal with ARTRAGE that saw The Rechabite become the home of the Budgie Smuggler, the FRINGE WORLD Festival exclusive artist bar. In recognition of her dedication to FRINGE WORLD Festival and its artists, Cléo was awarded the 2025 Spirit of The Fringe award. Following its success, the Heart House branding and program was repeated in 2026.

In November 2025, Cléo launched astralibra and transitioned to running the business full time. There’s lots coming from astralibra in future, so stay tuned!
